Our puppy parties are FREE and open to Abington Park Vets clients' puppies between 9 and 11 weeks of age who have had their first vaccination. They take place at our Moulton surgery on evenings during the week. Each puppy can attend two sessions on successive weeks.

FAQs
1.Do I need to bring anything with me?
Yes, a collar and lead for your puppy and a few food treats to reward good behaviour during training sessions.

2.How many puppies will be there?
We try to have a maximum of 8 puppies per session but as the parties are so popular we sometimes have to squeeze in another couple or move some to the next session.

3.What happens at the parties?

Week One
Socialisation is very important for young puppies, it is important for them to meet lots of new people as early as possible, so they will be less likely to develop fear related behaviour problems as they grow older. In the first session the puppies get used to meeting new people by playing "pass the puppy", this gets them used to being handled by strangers who will look at their eyes, ears, teeth feet and so on as they are passed round- so going to the vet won't be so scary in the future.

One of our veterinary nurses then gives a presentation on fleas, worms and neutering.

We start getting the puppies used to basic training and commands such as sit, stand, lie down.

Then it’s play time, when the puppies are introduced to each other and have time to let off steam.
Week Two

Pass the puppy- again. This reinforces what they learned in week one.

Checking homework-The puppies show us how well they have learnt their commands from week one.

Playtime- more fun with their new friends.

Recall training- they learn to run back to Mum or Dad when called.

More playtime.

Question and answer session.

Certificates and puppy packs handed out!

4.Who runs the parties?
The parties are run by members of our reception and nursing staff who have years of experience in puppy behaviour and love interacting with our youngest patients.

5.How do I book?
Just phone us or ask a member of staff at any of our surgeries for more details.
