In House Laboratory
Our highly qualified and very experienced laboratory technician, Alice Tanner BSc , combined with a suite of ‘state of the art’ equipment enables us to offer a range of diagnostic tests which would be the envy of many a medical laboratory. This in-house facility allows us access to rapid and accurate results which in turn helps us towards earlier diagnosis and implementation of appropriate treatments for the animals under our care.
Investigations and tests which we provide include –
Histology (for tissue identification and assessment) and other more complex tests require samples to be sent to specialist external laboratories. While our rapid courier service and e-mail have both speeded up the reporting of results these can take a variable and sometimes quite lengthy time to arrive back.
In urgent cases we will always endeavour to accelerate the reporting process as far as is possible, to minimise the anxiety of waiting and to facilitate rapid and appropriate treatment of your pet’s condition.

We run many of our bloods in house and many techniques offered are rarely used in companion animal practice. We can run in-house blood gases, ammonia and advanced tests such as thromboelastographs, full coagulation tests and platelet aggregation tests.
- Urine analysis for checking pH, concentration and presence or absence of other products such as sugar (in diabetes) or protein
- Microscopy including cytology (cell identification), as well as routine skin (for parasites, fungal spores, etc) and urine examination (for abnormal crystals, cells or bacteria)
