Internal Medicine
Our comprehensive internal medicine service covers oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology and general medicine. We have access to flexible and rigid endoscopy; B-mode, M-mode and Doppler ultrasound; digital and traditional radiography; full laboratory support including coagulation testing and blood gas analysis; and advanced imaging both CT and MRI.
We also have many diagnostic techniques and procedures that are rarely offered in private veterinary practice in this country; for example thromboelastography, platelet aggregation tests and photodynamic therapy for SCC in situ in cats (squamous cell carcinoma of the ears and nose) and superficial bladder tumours. We also have continuous glucose monitoring, hypertonic saline infusion studies and PRA measurements in our endocrinology clinic.
Our oncology service offers advanced surgical techniques and a comprehensive range of chemotherapy and biological therapies. We cannot offer radiotherapy at this time but can arrange tertiary referral in appropriate cases.
Nephrology offers tests as diverse as GFR testing and renal biopsy and our access to advanced testing allows diagnosis and management of a wide range of genetic diseases.
With our advanced monitoring systems, we are happy to see emergency medicine cases. Our medical service would be nothing without the excellent round the clock backup of our highly trained and experienced nursing team and our in-house laboratory run by our dedicated laboratory manager.
