Abington Park Veterinary Surgery has been providing a 24 hour emergency service for the pets of clients registered at our practice since it was founded in 1985. We have endeavoured to provide the very best levels of medicine and surgery for your pets under our care at all times. Inevitably, this service has required our small team of vets and nurses to work in excess of 60 hours per week to maintain our high standard of animal care throughout the year.

Recent changes in employment legislation have prevented us from continuing to work these hours and it has therefore become necessary to have our "out of hours" emergency duties covered by a dedicated, independent, veterinary emergency service called VETS NOW ©

This company runs clinics up and down the country employing veterinary surgeons and nurses trained in emergency medicine, and in Northampton they will be stationed at the PDSA clinic, also known as Vetsavers, in Monks Pond Road, off St Andrew's Road. Please see the leaflet for full directions.

When our surgery is closed please telephone 01604 628685 day or night, where a recorded message will give you the VETS NOW© emergency number. This number will then enable you to contact VETS NOW© to arrange for your pet to be seen as soon as possible by an emergency veterinary clinician. Just as happens in a human emergency, your pet will be referred back to us the following day for ongoing treatment when necessary.

VETS NOW © will be open every evening from 7pm until 8.30am week days and weekends from Saturday 12 noon until Monday 8.30am or Tuesday 8.30am in the case of Bank Holidays for emergencies and urgent cases only. These arrangements will not affect our normal services and we shall still continue to have a Saturday morning clinic (8.30am - 12.30pm by appointment).

All the veterinary clinics in the town have subscribed to this new facility and therefore will be similar to the arrangements the local doctors use at Normed for their ill patients.
