CT or Computerised Tomography
CT or Computerised Tomography is a powerful and advanced form of x-ray machine. In a CT scanner, the X-ray beam moves rapidly all around the patient, scanning from hundreds of different angles. The computer takes all this information and puts together a 3-D image of the body. We have monthly CT scanning sessions at our Moulton surgery with our mobile scanning provider Burgess Diagnostics. CT imaging can be used to image any part of the body including brain but is particularly useful in diagnosing diseases of bone, spread of cancer to lungs or abdominal organs, and can even be used to build three dimensional images of bones or organs which can be moved so they can be viewed from all angles.
